Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of Ollie ("Ollie," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Ollie app, visit this website, submit feedback, or contact support. Ollie is designed for adults 18 and older.

Information you choose to provide

For purposes of this Privacy Policy, personal information includes all content you submit when interacting with Ollie, including messages, live voice input and transcripts, photos, photo descriptions, feedback, support messages, and onboarding information. Onboarding information includes the preferred form of address you provide and your age, age range, or confirmation that you are 18 or older. Ollie processes this information so the app can respond to you, personalize your experience, interpret your onboarding responses, generate the AI features you request, and respond to feedback or support requests.

Do not provide information you are not comfortable sharing with Ollie, including highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, legal, or government identification information.

Identifiers, subscriptions, and transactions

Ollie creates a random device-level user identifier to maintain usage allowances, subscription status, and app continuity without requiring a traditional account. This identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain and may be sent to Ollie's services with feature, feedback, subscription, and usage requests.

If you make or restore an App Store purchase, Apple processes your payment information. Ollie does not receive your payment card or bank account details. Ollie receives and processes limited transaction and entitlement information, such as the product identifier, transaction and original transaction identifiers, signed transaction data, purchase time, subscription status, and expiration or revocation information, to verify and provide paid features, prevent duplicate processing, and handle purchase support.

How information is collected and held

Ollie collects information directly from you when you use a feature or contact us; automatically when the app, website, or device communicates with our services; and from Apple or other service providers when they confirm a purchase, return an AI response, deliver configuration, or report a service event. Information may be held locally on your device, in Ollie's service records, or by service providers acting for Ollie as described below.

Permissions

Microphone access supports voice conversations. Camera and photo library access support photo-based conversations. These permissions are optional and are used only when you choose related features. You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

How information is used

Information is used to provide and personalize app features, interpret onboarding responses, generate responses, understand speech, explain photos, create speech audio, maintain conversation continuity, verify subscriptions and usage allowances, deliver app configuration, respond to feedback and support, maintain safety, prevent misuse, troubleshoot issues, improve reliability, enforce our terms, and comply with legal obligations. Ollie does not use user content to train general-purpose AI models or for advertising.

Legal bases where applicable

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to provide the service or take steps you request; for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, supporting, and improving Ollie where those interests are not overridden by your rights; with your consent where consent is required, including for optional device permissions or sensitive information; and as needed to comply with legal obligations or protect legal rights. You may withdraw consent at any time, but withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it was withdrawn.

AI processing

Ollie's current third-party AI processor is OpenAI. When you use Ollie's AI features, the content you choose to provide is transmitted securely to OpenAI either directly from the app or through Ollie's processing service, depending on the feature. This content may include messages, live voice audio and transcripts, photos you select or capture, photo descriptions, recent conversation context, compact conversation summaries, your preferred form of address, and your age, age range, or adult-status response when needed to interpret onboarding input or personalize the experience.

OpenAI processes this information only as needed to generate responses, understand and transcribe speech, create speech audio, explain photos, interpret onboarding input, maintain conversation continuity, provide safety protections, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable law. Ollie does not opt in to allowing OpenAI to use API content to train its general-purpose AI models. Ollie requires OpenAI to provide privacy and security protections consistent with this Privacy Policy, applicable law, and OpenAI's contractual obligations. Additional information is available in OpenAI's API data controls and Services Agreement.

AI content sent directly from the app to OpenAI is not received or retained by Ollie's servers. When a request is routed through Ollie's processing service, that service handles the content transiently to complete the requested feature. Ollie's servers do not retain raw messages, live voice recordings, full transcripts, onboarding answers, or uploaded photos as application records after processing is complete. Ollie may retain non-content operational metadata such as request identifiers, feature type, model configuration, status, timing, token or usage measurements, image format and size, and error information. OpenAI may retain submitted content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, subject to legal and safety exceptions.

Consent to AI data sharing

Before you can enter onboarding information or use an AI feature for the first time, Ollie identifies OpenAI, explains what information will be sent and why, and requests your explicit consent. If you do not consent, Ollie does not send your content to OpenAI, but Ollie's AI conversation, voice, and photo features cannot be used. The consent choice is stored locally on your device. You may withdraw consent at any time by selecting "AI Data Sharing" from the menu in the upper-right corner of Ollie's main conversation screen. Withdrawing consent stops future sharing and disables Ollie's AI features until you consent again. Deleting the app also removes the locally stored consent choice. You may also contact us with a privacy or deletion request. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Service and device information

Ollie and its service providers process technical information needed to operate and secure the service. This may include the Ollie device-level identifier, a remote-configuration installation identifier, IP address, request identifier, timestamps, app version and build, device type, operating system version, locale, time zone, response status, request timing, feature and screen names, model configuration, usage measurements, network status, and error details.

Analytics and diagnostics

Ollie records limited operational and usage events, such as the type of feature used, timestamps, request status, duration, usage amount, subscription status, and technical error information, to enforce usage limits, understand service performance, improve reliability, detect abuse, and maintain safety. These operational events are not designed to contain raw photos, voice recordings, or full conversation transcripts.

Ollie uses a remote-configuration provider to deliver app settings. That provider generates a separate installation identifier and may process limited device and network information to return the appropriate configuration. The current version of Ollie does not use third-party advertising SDKs, does not use Google Analytics, and does not track your activity across other companies' apps or websites.

This website

This informational website does not currently set advertising cookies, use tracking pixels, or run analytics scripts. The hosting and content-delivery providers may process IP addresses, request times, requested pages, browser or device information, and security logs as needed to deliver and protect the website.

Sensitive information

Ollie does not actively request or require sensitive information such as health information, precise financial information, racial or ethnic origin, religious or political beliefs, sexual orientation, genetic data, or biometric identifiers. Because Ollie is a conversational service, you may voluntarily mention or include sensitive information in a message, voice conversation, photo, feedback, or support request. If you do, Ollie processes that information only as part of the content needed to provide the feature or response you requested, maintain safety, respond to support, or comply with law. It is not used for advertising, marketing profiles, or unrelated purposes.

Photos, microphone, and camera

Ollie processes photos, camera input, and microphone input only when you choose to use those features and have consented to AI data sharing. Photo and voice content may be sent to OpenAI to provide the requested feature. Avoid sharing photos or recordings that include sensitive information or people who have not agreed to be included.

Face data and photos

Ollie does not use face recognition, face identification, facial authentication, or biometric profiling, and does not collect or generate biometric face data as a separate data category. Ollie does not create faceprints, facial templates, facial geometry, landmarks, embeddings, identity records, or other persistent identifiers derived from a face.

A photo that you voluntarily select from your photo library or take with the camera may incidentally contain a visible face. In that situation, Ollie processes the pixels of the complete photo, including any visible face, only to provide the image explanation you requested. Ollie does not identify the person, compare the face with other images or databases, track the person, or infer sensitive characteristics from the face. Ollie has no planned use of face data beyond processing user-selected photos to provide the requested general image-understanding feature.

The selected photo is transmitted using encrypted connections to Ollie's processing service and then to OpenAI. Ollie's processing service handles the raw photo transiently for the time needed to validate the request, obtain the image-analysis response, and return that response to the app. During that request, the photo may be buffered in memory or temporary request storage, but Ollie's application does not write the raw photo or any biometric face data to its server database or durable file or object storage. Ollie retains technical request metadata, such as image format, image size, request identifiers, processing status, timing, model configuration, and token usage. This metadata does not contain the photo, facial pixels, a faceprint, or facial measurements.

Ollie does not retain a server-side copy of the raw photo or biometric face data after the image-analysis request is complete. A non-biometric text explanation derived from the photo may be used in the current conversation and may be included in a compact conversation summary stored locally on your device so the conversation can continue naturally. Ollie disables provider response storage for these requests. OpenAI may nevertheless retain submitted content in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days under its applicable data controls, unless a shorter retention control applies. OpenAI may retain content for longer when required by law or when an image is flagged for safety review, including potential child sexual abuse material. Ollie does not sell face data, share it with advertisers or data brokers, or use it for advertising, marketing, user profiling, or model training.

Ollie's transient server-side copy of the raw photo is released when processing the request is complete and is not kept as an application record. Any original photo stored in your device's photo library remains under your control and can be deleted through the Photos app. Local conversation information can be removed by deleting the app. You may stop further processing by not using the photo feature, by changing camera or photo-library permissions in iOS Settings, or by contacting us to request deletion of information retained by Ollie where applicable. Temporary data retained by OpenAI is deleted according to its applicable retention schedule, generally within 30 days, subject to the legal and safety exceptions described above.

Sharing

With your consent, Ollie shares user-provided messages, live voice audio and transcripts, selected photos, related conversation context and summaries, preferred form of address, and age or age-range onboarding input with OpenAI only as needed to provide and personalize the AI features you request. Ollie also shares limited information with service providers that host infrastructure and this website, deliver remote configuration, verify subscriptions, provide diagnostics or security, prevent abuse, or support customer requests. We require service providers that process personal information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law and to use it only for the services they provide.

Apple and App Store service providers process purchases, subscriptions, refunds, and related disputes under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information to professional advisers, regulators, courts, law enforcement, or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, enforce our terms, or establish or defend legal claims. If Ollie is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or transfer of all or part of its business, information may be disclosed to the relevant participants subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.

No sale, advertising, or tracking

Ollie does not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, share conversation content with advertisers or data brokers, or use messages, voice recordings, or photos for advertising or marketing profiles.

App Store privacy information

The App Store privacy details for Ollie should match this policy and the app's actual behavior. Depending on the features you use, Ollie may process a user or device identifier, purchase history, user content, audio, photos, customer support or feedback content, diagnostics, and app usage information.

Ollie does not sell personal information. If app behavior changes, this policy and the App Store privacy information should be updated before release.

Retention

Retention depends on the type of information and why it is processed. Ollie does not keep information longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described below, unless a longer period is required to comply with law, resolve a dispute, prevent fraud or misuse, or establish or defend legal claims.

AI content. Raw messages, live voice recordings, full transcripts, onboarding answers, and photos submitted for AI processing are not retained by Ollie as server-side application records after the request is processed. OpenAI may retain submitted content for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, subject to the legal and safety exceptions described in the Face data and photos section.

Information stored on your device. Your preferred form of address and compact conversation summary remain locally on your device until you select "Delete Data on This iPhone" from Ollie's menu or delete the app. Your AI-sharing consent choice remains locally until you change or withdraw it, use that local-data deletion option, or delete the app. The local-data deletion option also removes Ollie's local onboarding state, local usage history, cached app data, and device-level identifier, then starts Ollie with a new local profile. It does not delete information previously sent to Ollie's services and does not cancel an App Store subscription. Your age or age-range response is used during onboarding and is not retained by Ollie as a server-side application record. The random Ollie device-level identifier is stored in the iOS Keychain to maintain app continuity and subscription or usage state and may otherwise persist after reinstalling the app.

Operational and subscription records. Non-content operational and diagnostic logs, including request metadata, usage events, status, timing, and error information, are generally retained for 30 days and then deleted or anonymized. Particular records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary to investigate a security incident, prevent fraud or misuse, resolve a dispute, or comply with law. Subscription and transaction records are maintained while Ollie operates so subscriptions can be verified, restored, refunded, and protected against duplicate processing or fraud, and may be retained longer where required for legal, accounting, or reporting obligations.

Feedback and support. Feedback content and support communications are retained only when you deliberately submit them. They may be retained while Ollie operates so we can review product feedback, provide support, and maintain a record of reported issues. You may request deletion at any time. We will delete or anonymize the information where applicable, unless continued retention is reasonably necessary for safety, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or legal compliance. Remote-configuration installation identifiers are retained under the provider's applicable schedule.

Children

Ollie is not intended for children or anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a person under 18 has provided personal information to Ollie, we will take reasonable steps to restrict access and delete the information where required. If you believe a minor has provided information to Ollie, contact support.

Your rights and choices

You can choose not to submit messages, voice input, photos, feedback, or optional onboarding information; stop using related features; and change microphone, camera, or photo-library permissions in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live, you may request information about our handling of your personal information, access or receive a portable copy, correct inaccurate information, delete information, withdraw consent, object to or restrict certain processing, or appeal a decision about a privacy request.

To delete data stored locally by Ollie on your iPhone, open Ollie's menu and select "Delete Data on This iPhone." This local action does not delete information already held by Ollie's services. To request deletion of information held by Ollie's services, contact us using the address below.

To exercise a privacy right, contact us using the address below and describe your request. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Some requests may be limited where information is needed to provide a service you requested, protect other people, maintain security, comply with law, or establish or defend legal claims. You may also have the right to complain to the privacy or data-protection authority where you live.

Privacy complaints

If you believe Ollie has not handled personal information properly, email us with the subject "Privacy complaint" and describe the issue and the outcome you are seeking. We may request additional information, will investigate the complaint, and will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the privacy or data-protection regulator in your jurisdiction. Where the Australian Privacy Act applies, this may include the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International processing

Information may be processed in countries or regions other than where you live, including the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those places may differ from local laws. Where required, we use contractual and other safeguards intended to protect personal information transferred across borders.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
